Dear Senator / Representative --

I am asking you to work to release federal grant funds being held by the Executive Branch as part of the Farm Labor Stabilization and Protection Pilot Program, then push to continue this program because it is vastly popular with farmers, it stems the flow of undocumented workers in agriculture, and provides good working conditions for the farm workers.

America’s farmers who applied for the program did so in good faith and with the understanding that USDA would uphold their end of the commitment. At a time when margins on America’s family farms are increasingly thin, I am deeply troubled by reports that farmers have not received reimbursements for the significant costs incurred as part of their participation in USDA’s program.

This program actually aligns with several key priorities of this Republican Administration, including securing the domestic food supply, reducing illegal immigration, and increasing farmworker retention. The H-2A visa holders can only be hired only after the jobs are advertised to U.S. citizens.

Please work to get this funding released. Our farmers who participated in the grant program and met all the requirements deserve to be reimbursed for their expenses.
