2 von 4 Völkern haben es über den Winter geschafft. Interessant das die anderen beiden von einer anderen Königin abstammen.
Da dieses Jahr ausreichend bereits ausgebaute Rähmchen vorhanden sind, gibt es Frühtracht. Lecker...

Today, in a hilarious turn of events a bee family decided to swarm into a parking lot of a beekeeping startup. The integration and the research team leads promptly collected them into an empty box, and all the girls are now on the way to their new home 🐝

@geniodiabolico My mentor was a champ. I drove my frames to his house, he applied a fresh coat of wax while I drove out to pick up my nucs. Then I drove back to his house and he followed me home. There he helped me and the kid install them while showing us stuff like how we had the smoker set up wrong and were doing our jackets wrong. Very helpful information.

My hives have begun!

Ensuring the release of Package Queens into the rest of the Colony tomorrow, and fortunately, my packs of Norroa should be arriving from Mann Lake too.

It's been much colder here in New England this week than I would have liked for Package installs (Saturday was fine, but it was *snowing* yesterday). But tomorrow should be over 50F, so a reasonable temperature for working hives.

Good news: I got the message that my two nucs of bees are ready. By this afternoon I will be a #beekeeper sort of, in that I'll have them on my property if not fully installed.

Bad news: We just got back in town from spring break and I am a bit out of position and scrambling to be ready for them. I meant to get some fresh wax and recoat the foundation and that hasn't yet happened.

My mentor is giving me a call shortly so we'll see what he says. The fun is starting now!

2 main pollens going in. The deep yellowy orange of dandelion and the paler yellow of celendine. Both give pollen generously and dandelions give a rich dark nectar too. They are very important for bees in the spring #beekeeping
