Sanchez Next-Gen Slow Street Project headed to public hearing

We have worked with the community to develop a suite of upgrades for the Sanchez Slow Street to build on its success with more permanent, attractive, and easier-to-maintain elements at intersections, including concrete bulb islands at some block entries, painted safety zones, and daylighting.

The SFMTA also received a Bloomberg Asphalt Art Initiative grant to support street mural installations on Sanchez Street in collaboration with the San Francisco Parks Alliance. This project represents a fantastic opportunity to infuse the Sanchez Slow Street with local flair and community-driven art.

1) Practiced the 1st 1/3 of my 2nd degree black belt #Aikido test with my test partner today. The basics went okay, & now I think I know what technique reversals to demonstrate.
2) Gorgeous day, enjoyed a block-wide #GarageSale on the #PageSlowStreet #SlowStreet in #LowerHaight. Kiddo & spouse found pants, & kiddo found a necklace she likes.
3) Completed my enormous #SF #California #ballot! Will mail my #vote this week! Still weeks to go, but feels lighter!

It shouldn't be so stressful to enjoy Sanchez #SlowStreet. Too many drivers with something to prove. Beginning to think the SFMTA has burned through the money allocated for safety improvements on study and planning.

An opponent of the Chenery #SlowStreet just said “we live in a city, not in a suburb,” which reminds me of the paradox that people associate “big city” with “lots of traffic,” and move to suburbia to get away from traffic in their subdivisions, despite the fact that the suburban form increases car dependence, and dense big cities make cars uniquely impractical and unnecessary.

My new #yoyo video is online now!

It features an original soundtrack and all original tricks. "Slow Streets, Responsive Yo-Yos" was shot entirely on beautiful Sanchez Street in #SanFrancisco. One of my favorite #SlowStreet projects in SF.
