Another great, under-appreciated 90s band that never quite broke through, but have their cult following and are beloved by other musicians.

The last record before Phelps left the band, it is full of raw, off-kilter, but VERY engaging indie rock tunes. It has a very “live” feel to it; like the band are playing in the room, and they just left the rough edges on.

The bass and drums are very prominent, which makes sense, because it’s a record that was made by Steve Albini.

A really killer record.

Sadly, their drummer Michael Dahlquist died in a 2005 car accident, when another vehicle INTENTIONALLY rammed his, killing him and two other musician friends.
Silkworm disbanded immediately, but reformed briefly to play at Steve Albini’s memorial service.
