After 4 months, my first pair of stripy socks are done!! The #secondsocksyndrome definitely hit hard with these ones, but it was worth persevering because just look at those colours 😍

Nothing in particular today. Just chilling to the fullest extent of the law, ha ha. Which included getting stuck between cats while trying to get out of bed this morning; Halo decided he wanted to squish his head against mine from behind, and I couldn't move.

Past that, just games-and-yarn. Sock #2 is in the latter stages! I don't suffer from #secondsocksyndrome myself; I do all the math/count the number of rows on the first sock, and then just repeat it. And since all the 'hard' stuff has already been sorted, it's that much easier to just work through.

I keep proclaiming that I'm a gnu, which is what usually happens when I'm knitting the second sock of a pair.
Why? Because I borrowed the tune from Flanders & Swann - or rather from Swann - for my S-song of the S-second S-sock.

Second Sock Syndrome: A Song

I confess: I generally enjoy knitting the second sock more than the first. All those anxious decisions are out of the way: toe-up or cuff-down? smaller needles? what kind of heel? is the foot long …

My sure-fire tip for getting past #SecondSockSyndrome in #knitting:

Start that second sock *immediately* after finishing the first. The same goes for sleeves.

The second sock (or sleeve) always seems to knit up much faster than the first, but not if you allow yourself to start anything else.

@knitting

@terri this might be a solution to #secondsocksyndrome

Dropped into #bendigowoollenmills last week and found this gorgeous #variegated #purple 100% #australian #merino #wool #8ply #yarn. Being in the #bargain section, the three balls they had were it, and so not enough to make a #handknit #jumper (#sweater ) or #cardigan without playing #yarnchicken, so fell back to my default of #knitting #socks. Being so sidt, thick and #lush, they'll be perfect for my friend, Laura, who finds the bitter #chill of #winter in #Victoria almost unbearable.

They're knitting up very quickly on my #KnitPro #Zing #Interchangeables using #magicloop #2atatime (to avoid SSS - #SecondSockSyndrome) and the #fishlipskiss sock #pattern.

I suspect these will be the first of many I'll be knitting.
