Exploring the Debian (Bullseye) system inside my new Sovol SV06 ACE 3D printer.

SSH access works and the default account has root privileges.
Looks like a Rockchip RK3308 board running Klipper + Mainsail.

Before printing anything I'm making a full OS backup and inventory of what's installed.

Anyone else poking around inside the SV06 ACE at the system level?

I need to find a more permanent spot for my #Sovol #sv06 plus and build an enclosure. They take up a lot more space than I expected, especially since the bed moves. #3dprinter #sv06plus

Recently I've been modernizing my #SV06 .

It's been running Klipper on it a long time but I replaced the print head and I'm adding a high quality camera.

Why? It's quiet.

Like, I'm surprised it's even on it's so silent. I have a kid who sleeps 14 hrs a day and my other printers are loud enough to wake him up.

Recent printers have seemingly picked speed over volume. Some reviews include dB levels but I'd love to see a #3DPrinting review round up that puts sound the primary metric.

Replacing the original air duct and a fan on 3D printer (Sovol SV06)

If you’re reading this on fediverse and the layout is off, here’s the link to the original blog post with a nice text & pictures layout.

It started with this ‘blob of death’. I was printing with nylon, when it happened. Nylon filament is a PITA. It was good when I unpacked it and the next day. Then it caught so much moisture that printing was almost impossible. I even bought a filament dryer to dry it with no success.

The prints had gaps (because of exploding water droplets) and then the blob formed when I was away.

When I removed the blob, the old air duct broke.

I searched Printables for a new duct and found this one: Nautilus.

I’ve bought a new, stronger blower fan (5015 24v).

Then I printed the new duct (using nylon filament).

The printed duct is ugly (not very smooth) because I used wet nylon filament.

Then I glued the parts together. Firstly I used superglue, but it didn’t hold for long. Then I used 2-component epoxy glue.

I removed the old fan and attaching plate. Then I mounted a new fan and a duct. I used some random bolts to attach it to the extruder.

I had to cut wires and replace a connector. The connector that came with fan was too big. I reused the old fan’s conector.
Then I had to sand off the bottom (mostly remainings of epoxy), because it touched the bed when homing.

Now the fan works really well. I tested it during 5-hr PLA print and it went without problems.

I wanted to replace the original fan from the beginning, because it was mounted under the extruder, very close to the bed, and sucked the hot air. It started to fail and it was loud. The blob and broken duct was a push to replace it.

I even increased the speed of printing from 60 to 100mms and the new fan performed pretty well.

Nevertheless, I will print another duct bc I’m not sure how long this one will last. I fear of heat related warping.

Replacing the original air duct and a fan on 3D printer (Sovol SV06) – Tomi's place

Is it bad that I have been going full on lavishing attention on my #SOVOL #sv06+ with upgrades and enhancements and then after seeing the #Prusa #MK4s appear want to regulate it to some corner to gather dust?

Been trying to #3dprint a #charizard #pokemon for my daughter. Would have used her #ender2pro but she wanted it BIG, so #sovol #sv06+.

Can't get to it to finish. It keeps knocking over supports. I have enabled z-hop but can't get past this point (see pic)

I have a #wyze camera pointed at it now and will upload a video today/tomorrow for further analysis.

Failed print pics are of separate incidents.

My #sovol #sv06 works great with #marlin and #octoprint. Should I enter the rabbithole called #klipper?

I had descent problems with my first layer on my Sovol SV06 cause the right bottom of the bed is really bent.
But the latest firmware update improves the auto leveling and fixes the problem for me 😍
If you haven't updated, I highly recommend it.👍

If you have problems with #sovol #sv06 uneven first layer adhesion (e. g. left side good, right side warping), then you might use the "Noodles-can" approach.
Nevertheless, I used the "Pesto Italiano" approach which improved bed levellib a bit, but not completely.
The problem is that z-levelling doesn't level z-rods if the difference between the left and right vertical z-axis is too big.
