It’s a very rare occurrence for me but my #MS brain can’t cope with Jon Fosse’s #Septology. I’m going to quit. Whilst I’m enjoying, I can’t handle the lack of paragraphs and full stops. I’ve managed 50 pages but 800 will be too much. I can’t breathe.
Book 1 of #JonFosse #Septology #TheOtherName done. It is indeed hypnotic through it's various repetitions, circularities, symmetries, synchonisities and meditations on good and evil. #PatOnBack. My engagement with it reflected in continuing straight onto Book 2. @bookstodon
So as prep for reading #JonFosse #Septology (second attempt: I was cheap and time poor the first time and had to return the book - it's 830pp) I read the 100pp novella #AlissByTheFire. My mind was 🤯. Sharing the same narrative and stylistic elements as the bigger work this little book traverses time, memory, tragedy and constantly shifting points of view in a stunning way. Like a string quartet composed of a handful of notes continually repeated and transformed. Better clear the diary for the bigger work. @bookstodon #NobelPrize #Literature
Better try to read #Septology again... #JonFosse #NobelPrize @bookstodon
About 50 pages from finishing #JonFosse ’s #Septology . Beautiful book, written in the same vein as Molly Bloom’s chapter in Ulysses, or Ducks, Newberryport but without the repetitive phrase. I’d never read Fosse prior to this but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for more from him.

Started reading Jon Fosse’s Septology yesterday, it immediately grabbed me. Despite how intimidating it looks on the page, it’s carried by a wonderful lightness and rhythm. Looks like I’ll be powering through that one quickly.

I realised last night that part of the reason I’m vibing so much with it is because it reminds me a lot of Ania Walwicz’s poetry - she pursued that same rhythmic quality and playfulness in her writing

Not Christian/Catholic, but I guess it was fitting to finish book 1 of #Septology on a Sunday morning

I joke a lot about it, but there really is something of the divine in Fosse’s #Septology .
