It's profoundly comforting to see that one's work is still raising interest after more than a decade, especially, something that at the time of publication was harshly attacked by "expert #reviewers" –anonymously of course (#FightTheFog). And ignored by the botanical High Priests beyond the Big Pond 😎😎😎
I will say, my long game with the #BookSprout stuff is to have a review team willing to accept ARCs of "The Last Gift-Knight" once I have it ready to review. This time, I would prefer to get that part of the release going on schedule.
So, if for any reason you aren't interested in reading the already released 4 books available there, yet you are interested in the yet-to-be-released title, it's cool to just join the team and wait.
@vfrmedia So @Bundesverband and other #ConsumerProtectionAgencies won't investigate #discrimination against #reviewers...

This is a standalone novella about people in homesteads and farming villages who learn that their land is being invaded and their defenders have run away. An ensemble cast settles their differences, works through their feelings about it, and most importantly will work together to resist an approaching battalion however they can. While doing so, they come to a more conscious appreciation of their community and what they value about it; why they might risk themselves instead of giving up, especially when it's not immediately clear how they might win.
"I like to write book reviews because..."
Finish that sentence in a reply to this post, and say whether you like fantasy or science fiction, and I'll send you a free book!
(Technically speaking, I'll send you a code to download a free ebook.)
No obligation to review the book I send, although that would be sincerely appreciated.

A warlike nobleman loses a fight, is stripped of title, and retreats in disgrace to become warlord of a territory which is apparently not prepared to be rid of him. He comes to terms with his inner circle, first to ensure he retains their support, then to confront them: some have been oppressing villages in his name, pushing them to the breaking point to supply an ongoing imperial expansion. The book follows the struggle not only to change his ways but to heal a suffering land, while putting off the decision about whether to surrender on the terms of the rival cousin who beat him. As if that were not challenging enough, strangers soon arrive warning of a tyrant who pursues them; the reader is shown this story from their perspective. Jarek must decide his next actions quickly and carefully, appreciating only too late in his life that his values will be judged by his actions.
An uplifting tragedy about taking care of as many people as you can along life's journey, even if the happy ending isn't for you--proving your values through action. Check it out on BookSprout.

The tragedy of a mild-mannered nobleman who keeps to himself and nurses his personal loss. He side-eyes the corruption in his kingdom while preferring to rule his dukedom by example, but one day he will realize this isn't enough. When his responsibilities place him in a catastrophic situation from which he may not escape, his values must shine through his actions. Most critical are his interactions with an ensemble cast which he meets along the way: a friend and adviser who wishes to steer him right; three musicians who think they have landed the greatest job in the kingdom; a gardener who does so much yet asks so little; a woman who works to free her people. The broader narrative carries a message about social decay, and what can happen when a society is too proud to admit its problems.
