Carryin' On is an album by American jazz guitarist Grant Green featuring performances recorded in 1969 and released on the Blue Note label. The album marked Green's return to the Blue Note label and embracing a jazz-funk style that he would play for the rest of his life.

The Allmusic review by Steve Huey awarded the album 3 stars and stated "While it won't win over fans of Green's older work, Carryin' On is a solid addition to any acid-jazz/funk/rare-groove library, as are most of Green's albums from this period" - Wikipedia

"The Mighty Ryeders' 'Help Us Spread The Message' is one of the ultimate rare groove albums.

The details of the album are still shrouded in mystery, but the songs are so great that the signature tune "Evil Vibrations" was sampled on De La Soul's "A Roller Skating Jam Named "Saturdays"- an undeniable masterpiece that has been loved over time!

The other songs are great too, such as 'The Mighty Riders' (A1) with its sharp cutting guitars and bottom-heavy bass groove, 'Let There Be Peace' (A2) with its exquisite interplay of horns and clavinet and the title number 'Help Us Spread The Message' (A5), with its folky sound and peaceful message that gradually builds from a slower tempo, is a superb funk tune. The band's quality is also unmistakably on fire throughout."

Tamiko Jones. Touch Me Baby

This low-tempo groove from Tamiko Jones is a masterclass in restraint; the whole track is so laid back as to be almost horizontal but retains a lovely funkiness. Jones quiet (almost spoken) vocals are backed by a sparse rhythm track underpinned by some lovely (almost drone like) orchestration. Lovely.

(there's also another version by Maria Morgan which is pretty funky too)
