In einer späten Änderung wurde das neue Haushaltsgesetz (HR 1) um eine Bestimmung erweitert, die Medicaid- und CHIP-Leistungen für geschlechtsangleichende Behandlungen für trans Personen jeden Alters verbietet. Dies betrifft Hormonersatztherapien, Pubertätsblocker und operative Eingriffe. Die Maßnahme wurde eingeführt, um konservative Stimmen zu gewinnen, und stellt einen drastischen Angriff auf die Gesundheitsversorgung von trans* Menschen dar.⬇️

Trans* Aktivist*innen haben lange davor gewarnt, dass solche Schritte nicht nur Kinder, sondern letztlich alle trans Personen treffen würden. Diese Warnungen wurden oft belächelt oder ignoriert. Nun zeigt sich: Es ging nie um den "Schutz der Kinder" – das Ziel war immer, trans* Menschen insgesamt den Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung zu verwehren.⬇️
