Finished reading Tobias Petry’s free #sql book: „Next-level Database Techniques For Developers”

It’s short and nicely arranged. I just wish it had MSSQL next to Postgres and MySQL inside. In any case I highly recommend it.

"Modern Perl" è un libro sul linguaggio perl, leggibile gratuitamente online.
Ho letto i primi capitoli e mi sembra una risorsa interessante da condividere. Ne abbiamo parlato (poco) su "Hello World", MUC amicə del GUUF.

"Perl was developed by Larry Wall in 1987 as a general-purpose Unix scripting language to make report processing easier."

Modern Perl: a Perl Tutorial 4e Table of Contents

Here are two programming books that I remember fondly and imparted much bigger things than their main topic. These are not recent, but their value never disappeared.

Mastering Regular Expressions by Jeffrey E.F. Friedl. Such a clear demonstration of how understanding how something works amplifies the value you can get from it. I never needed to write all that many regular expressions, but by getting a solid foundation of their mechanics, I feel confident when I have to.

Code Generation in Action by Jack Herrington. A very nice reminder that when you are writing a code, you can also write code to help you write the code. Every time I hear someone talk about using an LLM for "boilerplate", I want to say "You know you can write a little script to do it?" Sometimes I even need my own reminder that I can just write code to do something ancillary to whatever my real goal is.

Anyone want some old Insider Macintosh books? Probably moving soon and don’t really want to hold onto these. SF Bay Area preferred.
