The other name for this overshoot - where a life form expands to the point that the environment can no longer support them, for whatever reason. Threats to the food supply include plant diseases, climate collapse, pollution, and over-harvesting the soil. We're doing all these.

That's the phase humans are in now, overshoot. But there's no food shortage for now. There's only greed and refusal to feed everyone.
