AGI - La superstar del calcio David Beckham riceverà una stella sulla Hollywood Walk of Fame, in vista dei Mondiali di calcio che si terranno negli Stati Uniti.
La leggenda del cinema Tom Cruise e la moglie del giocatore, Victoria Beckham, ex pop star e ora stilista, saranno presenti alla cerimonia del 12 giugno per svelare la targa che immortalerà il centrocampista britannico sulla via più famosa di Hollywood.
La cerimonia per l'ex capitano dell'Inghilterra, 51 anni, si svolgerà poche ore prima della prima partita in terra statunitense dei Mondiali di quest'anno, organizzati congiuntamente da Messico, Canada e Stati Uniti.
"Il riconoscimento a David Beckham con una stella sulla Hollywood Walk of Fame nella categoria Sport e Spettacolo arriva in un momento opportuno, mentre gli Stati Uniti si preparano a ospitare i Mondiali di calcio FIFA", ha dichiarato Ana Martinez della Camera di Commercio di Hollywood.
"Il ruolo di Beckham nell'elevare la popolarità del calcio in America e la sua duratura influenza sullo sport, l'intrattenimento e la cultura globale rendono questo onore particolarmente significativo", ha aggiunto. Durante la sua carriera da calciatore, Beckham ha militato nel Manchester United, nel Real Madrid, nel Milan, nei LA Galaxy e nel Paris Saint-Germain, dove ha appeso gli scarpini al chiodo nel 2013.
Più recentemente, è diventato comproprietario della squadra americana Inter Miami CF, che ha ingaggiato la superstar argentina Lionel Messi e ha vinto la Major League Soccer Cup lo scorso anno.

AGI - Soccer superstar David Beckham will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, ahead of the World Cup being held in the United States.

Movie legend Tom Cruise and the player’s wife, Victoria Beckham, a former pop star and now fashion designer, will be present at the June 12th ceremony to unveil the plaque that will immortalize the British midfielder on Hollywood’s most famous street.

The ceremony for the former captain of England, 51 years old, will take place just hours before the first match on American soil of this year’s World Cup, jointly organized by Mexico, Canada and the United States.

“The recognition of David Beckham with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Sports and Spectacle comes at an opportune moment, as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup,” said Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

“Beckham’s role in raising the popularity of soccer in America and his lasting influence on the sport, entertainment, and global culture make this honor particularly significant.” During his career as a soccer player, Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain, where he hung up his boots in 2013.

More recently, he has become co-owner of the American team Inter Miami CF, which has signed superstar Argentine Lionel Messi and won the Major League Soccer Cup last year.

Beckham, who was knighted by King Charles III of Britain last year, has also ventured into the entertainment world, co-founding the content production company Studio 99 in 2019.
