Dear #MastoPeeps, Thank you in advance. I'm not sure how to describe the android based email client I'm looking for well enough to find it on my own.

Is there an #android based #email client under can store email locally is an #encrypted message store; that supported #POP3; that allows disabling automatic new mail checking; that does not have ads; that's either paid or the #developer has a ko-fi (or similar) page?

I don't want to use Thunderbird or BetterBird on my phone due to trust issues I have with them.

Today at 1am I noticed that my mail server wasn't working well since 2 weeks and that lead to a fun quest about fixing it that took me a few hours.
I'm not working theses days as i'm starting a new job in 1 month so I had time to dig to fix it...

The visible symptom was that gmail wasn't able to fetch my mails via pop3.

First issue was that the debian trixie migration got me #dovecot 2.4 instead of the 2.3 that was there before and it's NOT a minor version bump, they essentially re-wrote a new configuration file format... And obviously my docker image didn't have a "dovecot -n" anywhere to check the configuration

The second issue was that gmail only goes to IPv6 if possible and that was broken too after a long search I didn't find why, but the default route wasn't obtained via dhcpv6, forcing it enabled and rebooting the VM solved that one.

If only I hadn't deleted the #POP3 connection in gmail, now it needs to download back the 40k emails of my inbox again and show me all the ones I deleted gmail side only 🤣

Là, j’en ai qui ont nettement plus de 20 ans et qui vont rechanger d’hébergeur, mais c’est surtout qu’elles sont toutes en #POP3 (option garde tout sur le serveur) et centralisées dans #Thunderbird (ouais, ça fait un maousse dossier sur mon SSD).

Là, va falloir passer tout ça en #IMAP avant la migration (chez @infomaniak_network) et la dernière fois que j’ai fait ça ( y a bien 10 ans), j’ai perdu tous mes mails.

So #Google (and #GMail by extension) are removing #GMailify for #POP3 imports.
