A plein air outing on the Willamette.

As I was walking out on the dock I heard a recording being played on the Hawthorne Bridge and, figuring that the drawbridge was getting ready to rise, looked for the boat that had asked for the lift. And did a quick sketch of it before it slipped under the open span.

Then I walked out to where the dragon boats were tied up and did a longer sketch of the heads of two of them.

And when I was walking home I saw a huge barge, filled with giant I-beams, heading upstream. When it pulled abreast of me I saw that it was being pushed by the same boat that I'd sketched before.

Today was gorgeous and so I took the chance to do some plein air.

What went good:
Love my color choices, as I forced myself to use only Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, Yellow Mid, and Lemon Yellow.

What could be better:
Perspective was all off.
My block in was way too dark.
Clouds are still my nemesis.
