The Royal Palace of the Captains General in Antigua Guatemala. A building has stood here since the mid-1500s but this structure largely comes from a 1761 rebuild following an earthquake. Another earthquake a decade later persuaded Guatemala to relocate their capital and its buildings away from the nearby volcanoes thought to be responsible and the building fell into disrepair until 1979 when the city earned UNESCO World Heritage status.
