My partner Heidi has been living with #PBC (Primary biliary cholangitis), diagnosed a year ago. She hasn’t had a drink since.

A major complication, previously unknown to us, esophageal varices: blood that cannot be processed fast enough by a weakened liver, can cause varicose veins to burst in her esophagus. Bloody vomiting is no joke! We are still freaking out. ER, ICU for 2 days, and 4 more days recovering, so far… I nearly lost the love of my life.

EC (External Control) analysis: 60% risk reduction in the risk of adverse clinical outcomes like death, liver transplantation, or hepatic decompensation.(HR 0.39).

Well-tolerated; pruritus most common.
