Customizing a bridal gown is one of my specialties. This strapless dress needed to be made larger through the body and have a set of detachable custom sleeves added.
The bride was able to order 2 metres of the matching fabric.
I decided to add the pleating detail to the added sleeves as it complemented the existing pleats on the dress.
Adding the corset option and making a wide lacing worked great along with letting out sides and centre back seams.
I also made a pair of fingerless v handed opera gloves with a loop over the middle finger ( no photo but they were lovely) …

First week back to #teaching haute #couture/#sewing this week involved using nylon #horsehair braid to support garment hems as well as in embellished head pieces.

So, I still have a lot of fabrics and supplies to try to send on to useful lives, but I am not prepared to donate it just yet.
I have been told to try Poshmark for selling online.

Mainly I’ll start with pre-cut bridal laces, appliqués both with and without beads and sequins, and a few pre-made pieces like boleros / toppers/ sleeves that can work with strapless dresses.

Anyone have any other suggestions for online sales?

I do have a page on my website already listing items for sale, and will bump it to a more visible spot…

Finished this custom bomber jacket in lovely wool blend with a black flannel lining for a client this morning. Then friends dropped off their old canopy/ outside shelter and we “test” set it up.
Now I’m going to sit out back to do computer related work outside…. #aprilInOttawa #ottawaDesigner #ottawaSewist #selfEmployed #sewing #jacket #wool #fashion #selfCare

Lilac for a Spring Wedding | TAV Creations

That time I added layers of blush tulle and twinkling lights to a wedding dress for their NYE wedding at the NAC in Ottawa. Hours spent #handstitching the tiny string lights in place on the under layers. The battery packs (4) were held in place in fabric pockets I added to the hoop skirt worn under the dress.

#memoryLane #bridesmaidDress I made for a large bridal party- this one was my favourite of the group. The printed #chiffon fell so beautifully and the client was a dream!
Not your average bridesmaid dress for sure so kudos to the bride- all of her ladies had a pewter, silver colour scheme and their own designs.

Another #redesign project from a few years back took Grandma’s dress and make it new. They shared photos of the first wedding, and mom wearing it too, and then my client.

This week I'll be cutting out a dress and jacket, co-designed with the Mom of Groom, using the #satin #jacquard from her mother's #wedding dress and some lilac #silk her son - the groom - brought her years ago from a trip to Thailand.

So, #upcycling at it's best, reusing every morsel of this lovely ivory - and she's going to dye it to complement the lilac! And while it travelled the world, at this stage, it's become #deadstock as it is at least 5 years waiting to be made into something...

I'm cutting the pieces and handing them off to her to dye, then I'll get them back to begin the assembly...
