Black linen skirt was picked up by client yesterday.
I’m glad that I edge stitched the pleats from waist to hem ( used the stitch to flatten them to the body from waist to hip line).
I had to iron it before she picked up ( on the wrong side worked fine), and the stitching saved me many headaches!

Yesterday the school’s founder came to speak to the 1st and 2nd year Fashion Design program students.
It was such a good thing to have the raison d’être of the #HauteCouture sewing techniques being taught here expressed to these new creatives, who have been spoon fed fast fashion their entire lives.

This week I'll be cutting out a dress and jacket, co-designed with the Mom of Groom, using the #satin #jacquard from her mother's #wedding dress and some lilac #silk her son - the groom - brought her years ago from a trip to Thailand.

So, #upcycling at it's best, reusing every morsel of this lovely ivory - and she's going to dye it to complement the lilac! And while it travelled the world, at this stage, it's become #deadstock as it is at least 5 years waiting to be made into something...

I'm cutting the pieces and handing them off to her to dye, then I'll get them back to begin the assembly...

This morning, I tucked into my studio to create a tutorial video for my #hautecouture sewing students in the 2nd year Fashion Designer Program. I teach the sewing classes for first a second year. It came to a total of 7 parts to the series, from 3-8 minutes long each, so that they can have my voice haunting them outside of class as well as in class! #sewingTeacher #frenchbuttonhole #boundbuttonhole #tailoring #customsewing #slowfashion #oldschool #sewingtechniques. @fo @WTL @stephanie and yes, women’s sizing has no standards and I keep telling my sewing students to stop saying they are making something in “ size 10”- the size 10 basic block pattern does not fit the size 10 dress form…. Just go by the numbers! I do #customSewing for a reason!

I offset the underside from the seam line by about 2mm to ensure the teeth and stitches will be covered when it’s finally sewn in. #sewingTips
