DENOG17: An introduction to qGIS for current Google Earth Users
Been trying to connect #OpenMaps from my phone to my #NextCloud for like twenty minutes (I have a site survey of a county coming up, prefer it on my server than Giggle Craps, NDAs and stuff). Finally log into my NextCloud to find that I'd somehow disabled the NC App. [ *Galactic Face Palm* ]
Now to unfuck Office on one-and-a-half instances.
Los mapas creados por mujeres que desafían el poder de Google Maps
So, the offline maps I downloaded to my watch last night, I gave a test of today, - there's a point where 6 roads all converge at a roundabout,
Google Maps; only shows 4 roads, I think 2 are an estate, but they're still navigable.
Anyway, the open map on the watch showed all six, which gives me confidence when I run along unfamiliar routes, that the mapping is correct, and bits haven't (for whatever reason) been omitted.
#HOTOSM is announcing an Open Maps for #Humanitarian Needs Campaign
"Anticipating a potential drop in information on humanitarian contexts in the coming months, and while humanitarians find a way forward, we are launching a 90 day campaign of Open Maps for Humanitarian Needs"

Downloaded #OSMand today, we'll see how that works locally.
Although government institutions here use Open Maps, so I think it'll be fine, already discovered much more detailed trail maps than Google (wish I'd known that before) and I can pre-map a route with it, like #MapmyRun and save the #GPX file to my phone, then export to my watch...so that's really handy, but best of all the Gulf of Mexico is, and always will be the Gulf of Mexico!
Fun #opensource tip of the day, if you are looking to switch to OpenstreetMap @openstreetmap app for maps/navigation and missing the live traffic updates all you need is to turn on the plugin for online maps and add the below with a name as an overlayer. Took me a bit to find the right one so here's the code that worked for me (as url)
http://mts0.googleapis.com/vt/lyrs=m,traffic&x={1}&y={2}&z={0}&style=15
