gpxtidy is a little Rust program to tidy up GPX files for publication - it removes dates, times and personally identifying data so that they can be safely shared online. It simplifies the track by removing points that introduce less than a configurable error threshold. Finally it writes the result as either a GPX file or a GeoJSON LineString.

If you upload tracks of hikes, rides, runs or similar then this might be of interest to you.

I can't publish it to crates.io yet as it relies on an unreleased version of the gpx crate, but hopefully that will get fixed soon.

What if GPS routes could be visualized with animation and terrain like Relive?

Interactive route visualizer built with MapLibre GL and D3.js. Drag-and-drop GPX → animated playback over terrain, with an elevation chart synced to the map.

Click the chart to jump anywhere along the route. Both views stay aligned.

Still experimental, but shows what’s possible when flexible route data meets modern mapping tools.

Not really a fan of the walled garden aproach of 'komoot' and similar options, so I looked for other tools.

This alternative is not only easy to use, but it's ad free and open-source :)
