A bit late but Friday was the 124th anniversary of the birth of Doris Speed (Annie Walker, the original landlady of the Rover's in Coronation Street). Came across this excellent tribute programme, broadcast after her death in 1994. That regal manner and dry wit - fabulous. I was chatting to a friend recently and mentioned The Secret Life of Machines. It reminded me that there are a fair amount of new people on here from the demographic that would have watched it when it was first broadcast.
