Oh wow, I just realized that I ran Sway on Nvidia today and it didn't make me use the command line thing to let me use Nvidia drivers.

I found a solution! The decade of Manjaro lives on 😅✨
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/gdm-hangs-with-the-mouse-frozen/183664 for the solution, if anyone finds their way to this post and has the same problem.
I believe I am experiencing the same issue after the 2025-12-08 Anh-Linh Preview update. My system is working if I use a TTY session, but logging in with GDM hangs with the mouse frozen. I took a video of the experience for reference: https://youtu.be/e4_xux17BIM Things that I’ve tried that didn’t fix the issue: booting an older kernel (6.12) downgrading to the video-nvidia-575xx driver using the free video-linux driver disabling user extensions with gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-user...
I found a forum post that seems to be the same issue. There's still hope!

Updated my desktop manjaro install this morning and now it freezes when I try to log into gdm. Probably related to the update to gnome 49 but I can't for the life of me figure out what. I figured it was Nvidia+Wayland but switching to nouveau driver didn't fix it.
Going to bed but does anyone else have this issue?
It would be nice if Nvidia could fix the "*ERROR* [nvidia-drm] [GPU ID 0x00000b00] Attempt to wait on invalid sync FD: -24" bug that freezes the Plasma panel.
💥 GTX 1060 + Linux = Bon plan ou galère ? 🤔
J’ai testé l’Acer Nitro N50-600 sous Pop!_OS, et les résultats sont surprenants ! DXVK, VKD3D… Nvidia sous Linux, c’est vraiment au point ? 🔥

So this is why GTK4 applications tend to crash when they're closed, it's an Nvidia problem. Classic.
Originally filed against the GTK project: GTK4 apps background CPU usage high with Vulkan renderer (#7117) · Issues · GNOME / gtk · GitLab This was quickly identified as an nVidia driver issue. As of gtk 4.16 the Vulkan rendering backend is used by default. GTK4 apps are consuming unexpected CPU cycles while idle in the background when using the Vulkan backend. This does not occur with the NGL renderer. Steps to reproduce Launch a GTK4 app (e.g. GTK4-demo, Nautilus, gnome-text-editor) us...
If you have the same issue on something Arch-related or Arch itself, there's a fix that's being worked on in the testing repo according to this forum thread:

"[drm:drm_new_set_master] *ERROR* [nvidia-drm] [GPU ID 0x00000b00] Failed to grab modeset ownership"
Thanks, Nvidia. I hate you, too. Guess I didn't need to use Plasma Wayland today after all.
#Ubuntu removing Flatpak is the last straw. It's a continuing trend in the wrong direction. I'm going to research switching my company's whole fleet to #fedora or #AlmaLinux when the upgrades start happening. Such a shame! Ubuntu has been good for so long. Also made Nvidia drivers SO easy to install. Any tips for Nvidia installation on Fedora appreciated!
