Pozzolo fuori strada with its SUV in the Biellese, the Vannacci MP with a blood alcohol level twice the limit.

Emanuele Pozzolo is back in the headlines, once again for non-political reasons. The former deputy from Biella of Brothers of Italy, one of the first to embrace Roberto Vannacci and Futuro Nazionale’s project, who was already a protagonist in the unfortunate “New Year’s Eve shooting” saga, had a traffic accident in the afternoon of Tuesday, June 2nd.

As reported by Corriere della Sera, his Mercedes SUV went off the road on the highway leading to Cossato, near Vigliano Biellese: no other vehicles were involved in the accident, likely caused by the wet asphalt.

Pozzolo, who sustained no physical injuries, underwent an alcohol test and tested positive with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit. The officers issued a ticket to the parliamentarian for driving under the influence and will follow up on the case.

For Pozzolo, it’s the latest chapter in the news that goes far beyond the parliamentary chambers. Last October, the current deputy of Futuro Nazionale was sentenced in first instance by the Biella court to one year and three months for illegal possession of weapons, with conditional suspension of the sentence, in relation to what happened on the night of New Year’s Eve 2024 in Rosazza, also in Biella: it was there that the boyfriend of the daughter of the then Justice Undersecretary Andrea Delmastro was injured by a gunshot fired with the weapon reported by Pozzolo.

Before starting the final performance of the pieces scheduled, Muti wanted the “Ave Verum” to be dedicated to all young and not-so-young people who lost their lives in what he called “a horrendous fire, caused by the culpability, superficiality, and delinquency of others.” A gesture of great humanity from the renowned conductor, who was able to transform an artistic moment into a tribute of memory and justice for the victims of a tragedy that deeply marked the entire of Italy.

Gina was traipsing around in her kinky gear, feeling herself as she danced around. The boots took some time getting used to, but nearly as soon as she figured it out, fire flared up in her ass. Ming had gotten into her own gear to celebrate the new lunar new year and felt herself getting slap happy! Happy new year Gina!

“A Song for New Year’s Eve” by William Cullen Bryant

William Cullen Bryant was a 19th century American romanticist poet, abolitionist and civil right advocate. Originally a lawyer, he started publishing poems in the early 1820s. Later in the decade he became the editor of the New York Review and the New York Evening Post, solidifying his position as a prominent man of letters and progressive politics.

William Cullen Bryant (1794–1878)

As a writer, he is often brought into connection with the famous Hudson River School of art. What the painters of that school did on their canvases, Bryant did on paper, painting wonderful landscapes and nature scenes with his pen. If you like nature writing, you will love Bryant’s poetry!

In this post, however, I’ll present a poem of his on a holiday theme. Entitled ‘A Song for New Year’s Eve’, this one is a bittersweet parting with the old year, and a hopeful plea for better things coming with the new year. (It’s a bit of a tradition here on Grammaticus to end the year with a poem on a New Year theme – check out the previous one, “Ring Out, Wild Bells” by Lord Alfred Tennyson).

As always, this poetry post contains a simple vocabulary exercise for English language learners.

Stay yet, my friends, a moment stay—
Stay till the good old year,
So long companion of our way,
Shakes hands, and leaves us here.
Oh stay, oh stay,
One little hour, and then away.

The year, whose hopes were high and strong,
Has now no hopes to wake;
Yet one hour more of jest and song
For his familiar sake.
Oh stay, oh stay,
One mirthful hour, and then away.

The kindly year, his liberal hands
Have lavished all his store.
And shall we turn from where he stands,
Because he gives no more?
Oh stay, oh stay,
One grateful hour, and then away.

Days brightly came and calmly went,
While yet he was our guest;
How cheerfully the week was spent!
How sweet the seventh day’s rest!
Oh stay, oh stay,
One golden hour, and then away.

Dear friends were with us, some who sleep
Beneath the coffin-lid:
What pleasant memories we keep
Of all they said and did!
Oh stay, oh stay,
One tender hour, and then away.

Even while we sing, he smiles his last,
And leaves our sphere behind.
The good old year is with the past;
Oh be the new as kind!
Oh stay, oh stay,
One parting strain, and then away.
