I'm sad about the passing of #PopeFrancis. He was not perfect, but compared to so many of those before him, he was a breath of fresh air and brought so many positive change to the #RomanCatholic church.

And he was willing to speak painful truth to the empires of our day, including in speaking against the #USA and its war on refugees and against the state of #Israel and its war against the people of #Gaza.

May his memory be for a blessing.

Late 1970s for #ThrowbackThursday and this must have been my First Communion, raised Catholic like I was and attending a Catholic school like I did. Nice try, church, but you didn't sink your claws deep enough into me for it to stick.

I am agnostic. But, somehow I enjoy reading psalm and prayers, because they tend to calm me.

But, those psalm and prayers never brought me into tear or closer to the religion.

Strangely, whenever I read a poem by Rudyard Kipling, "Our Lady of the Sackcloth", it always brings me to tear.

It also makes me want to pray Rosary and make devotion to mother Mary.

And yes, I am at peace.
