Tune into this political podcast. Sandy and Nora Talk Politics is an experiment. Can radical politics be explained in digestible, engaging pieces? Can good faith debate lead us to better solutions? Can a podcast change everything that is rotten about Canada: our society, our economy and our politics? We think it can.

Some Firefox tips and tricks from a workshop I participated in:
https://metalab.at/wiki/Weg_von_BigTech
1. uBlock Origin add-on:
Block trackers, ads and other content.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
Hard mode (not recommended!), enable the advanced user checkbox, disallow everything by default and then opt-in one by one for things you actually need.
2. Settings > AI Controls
Disable what you don't want.
3. DuckDuckGo NoAI as a search engine:
Go to Settings > Search > Add.
Enter a name. For the URL, put: https://noai.duckduckgo.com/?q=%s
Add Engine, then scroll back up and make it the default.
4. Privacy Badger add-on:
Automatically learns to block hidden trackers.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/privacy-badger17/
Disclaimer: I don't use it myself.
5. Add-ons for Youtube:
Disable automatic translation:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-no-translation/
Customize layout and thumbnails:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-addon/
Filter list for uBlock Origin for hiding shorts:
https://github.com/gijsdev/ublock-hide-yt-shorts
Disclaimer: I don't use them myself (am happy with the yt-dlp CLI command).
6. Multi-Account containers:
Separate cookies and local storage for groups of sites, color-codes tabs for visibility:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/
7. Privacy and security settings:
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security.
Enhanced Tracking Protection:
Set it to strict with the "Fix major site issues" checkbox enabled. Read the disclaimer. If you do encounter issues, you can add exceptions.
Website Privacy Preferences:
Mark "Tell websites not to sell or share my data" checkbox.
I also use the "Clear cookies and site data every time you close Firefox" checkbox. You can set exceptions for sites you actually want to remember your settings or logins via cookies.

"We'd like one order of the spaghetti, please," I said.
"One spaghetto, coming up!" the waiter bounced off and brought it back surprisingly fast.
"Wow, that IS a lot!"
"I told you! Fork for scale!" I grinned.
"Ooh! Let's Lady and the Tramp it for a selfie!"
"Wait, how do we find a really long one?"
"Just find any old end. We'll A.I. it!"
We each found one and began sucking, took the pic, then shared a look of confusion as snickers started to ring out. That confusion only grew as we kept going.
"MMM!" I jammed my finger at the bowl.
Turns out "spaghetto" wasn't a typo and we didn't have to A.I. it after all!
Finally got around to reading this: https://www.404media.co/your-ai-use-is-breaking-my-brain/
And this final paragraph hit home so hard.
"What’s driving me crazy, then, is not the idea that AI exists or that people are using AI. It’s that I have a finite time on this earth that I mostly want to spend interacting with other human beings. I don’t want to be the person arguing with a robot, or wasting my time reading something that a real person couldn’t be bothered to write."
