Yang Yin-liu (1899~1984), courtesy name Liang-qing, art name Er-zhuang, Qing-ru, was a Chinese musicologist and the founder of Chinese ethnomusicology. He recorded and arranged traditional Chinese music, wrote hundreds of monographs and papers, and researched the songs of Jiang Kui of Song Dynasty, compiled a number of folk music collections, and made great contributions to the preservation and development of Chinese ethnic music.

楊蔭瀏（1899年11月10日～1984年2月25日），字亮卿，號二壮，又號清如，中國音樂學家，中國民族音樂學的奠基人，曾採錄整理中國傳統音樂，編著《中國古典音樂史稿》《工尺譜淺說》等專著和論文，研究宋代姜夔的歌曲，編著多種民間音樂曲集，對中國民族音樂的保存和發展做出了很大的貢獻。

Just saw this sad news, in memory of Prof. Du Ya-xiong 🕯️
Mr. Du Ya-xiong was an outstanding musicologist in China. He researched and organised Chinese ethnic music theory and ethnic music, filling in many academic gaps. In addition, he also participated in the translation of foreign language monographs such as Twentieth-Century Harmony, and promoted the Chineseisation of the “Kodály Method”. He has left many valuable achievements for the music field.

@J12t @mmasnick I’m in with you. We actually had chances to learn about a new class of art, the #transform, innumerable times. For example with Hip-Hop music, and EDM.

But we keep ignoring the signs, shoehorning everything into the ”original artist” conception and rubberbanding back to the old ownership concepts.

I’m a #musicologist, and I’ve read so many good theories that never get out of libraries on this problem..
