The recent heavy snowfall allowed for the creation of portraits painted with spray paint on the snow (10 photos)

Street Artist Arkadiusz Andrejkow By Arkadiusz Andrejkow in Sanok, Poland. Arkadiusz Andrejkow: The recent heavy snowfall allowed for the creation of portraits painted with spray paint on the snow. I made my first attempts at these ephemeral little works probably about 10 years ago. Impatiently waiting for spring, in order to carry out more works on the walls, I decided to create something on a “white sheet”, which in the winter was spread everywhere.

STREET ART UTOPIA
By Danish artist Jacoba Niepoort at Union Row, Aberdeen, Scotland in June 2022 as part of @nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Jacoba’s work is grounded in her belief that connectedness facilitates a better understanding of self and others and is a powerful tool to address and change social issues.

Jacoba's mural reflects the theme of connectedness, showing three naked intertwining bodies yearning for connection. Clothes and face masks are non-existent, resulting in an ultimate physical touch, liberated finally after the constraints of the last few years. Jacoba aims for her murals to be have an impact and value to the viewer even if the interpretation is different from one person to another." https://www.aberdeeninspired.com/murals/jacoba-niepoort-2022
⠀⠀⠀
"I like to have these moments where you step up and are surprised."

POLLUTION FOREST by Spanish artist Escif @escif at 20 Thistle Street (near Rose Street), Aberdeen, Scotoand in June 2023. Photos taken April 2025.
⠀⠀⠀
"Spanish artist Escif returns to Nuart with one of his tertiary landscapes, using the recently adopted medium of ink made from harvested pollution. With the topic of this year’s festival being Rewilding, Escif’s muted landscape adds another dimension to an otherwise ordinary Aberdonian urban parking lot.
The image chosen by the artist was taken from the Caledonian Forest, an ancient temperate forest in Scotland. The forest has due to human actions over thousands of year reduced in size to its current extent. By the 1950s, only 1 precent of the original Caledonian Forest, that once covered most of Scotland, remained.
The mural was painted using @air.ink, which is the world’s first ink made out of air pollution particulate matters. By creating a new pictoral forest by using ink created from one of humanities most destructive inputs on the landscape, the choice of material and image reinforces the themes of the work and the festival at large." @nuartaberdeen June 17, 2023

Green Lady of Crathes Castle by Norwegian street art duo Naeem Saerle and Renate Hermansen AKA Nimi and RH74 @nimistreetart_ and @rh74_renate, with help from Scottish artists #marybutterworth, #Katiemguthrie, and #charliekelman at 1 Union Wynd, Aberdeen, Scotland in August 2018 as part of @nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.
⠀⠀
"The more famous ghost of Crathes Castle is the Green Lady who has been spotted by many people over the years including Queen Victoria.
...
The Green Lady of Crathes Castle isn’t shy and is still making her presence felt today. A few years ago, an Australian tourist was visiting the castle on a quiet day as the only person wandering the rooms. Just as she set foot on the staircase to make her way down to the Green Lady’s room she heard a clear voice in her ear say “Don’t go in the next room. Don’t go in. Get out. Now.” She raced down the spiral staircase as fast as she could and shot out of the main door. No amount of persuasion could get her back inside to finish the tour."

⠀⠀
"Bergen-based, South African born artist Nimi grew up in England and has been an integral part of the Norwegian street art scene for over two decades. A trained architect-turned-street artist, Nimi likes to experiment with a variety of techniques, mediums and creative processes in work that tends to blur the lines between political satire and Romanticism.

RH74 is a Stavanger-based artist and street art enthusiast whose work is a blend of fine and urban art. With a passion for figuration and portraiture she is mainly responsible for the fine details found in the duo’s impressive large-scale murals." https://www.aberdeeninspired.com/murals/artist/nimi-rh74

Anarchy by French artist duo Murmure @murmurestreet at 78 Queen Street, Aberdeen City Centre, Aberdeen, Scotland in June 2023 as part of @nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
"There are many ways of interpreting this work, and we hope that viewers will develop their own based on their sensitivity and personal background. But almost as a 'mise en abyme' (literally meaning: 'placement into abyss'), this goldfish is stuck in an environment surrounded by plastic, keeping it prisoner. The fish wants to rebel with the anarchy symbol drawn on the fog, but that will soon disappear. The use of the goldfish and its "short memory" is the perfect metaphor for humans who are aware of all the environmental issues around the world but seem to forget about them as fast as we are revolted by them and go on with our daily lives.

It's a work we have wanted to do for over a year but was considered too controversial, so having the Nuart team understand the meaning, support us, and allow us to bring it to life so it is now for the public to judge means a lot. We had the best time there, with the other artists, the team, the speakers, the volunteers and the people of Aberdeen." @murmurestreetart June 18, 2023

HERITAG
The Broken Wall by Australian artist Fintan Magee @fintan_magee assisted by Scottish artist Mary Butterworth at Jopps Lane, Aberdeen, Scotland in April 2017 as part of @nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.
⠀⠀⠀
"In 2008 the Scottish government approved a Donald Trump golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The development has been a disaster, destroying hundreds of acres of sand dunes and pristine coastland while forcing locals off their land and only delivering 98 of the 6000 jobs Trump promised to the local economy. Trump also ended up in a public battle with a number of the local farmers who refused to sell their land. Claiming that the homes were 'slum like' and they would spoil the view from his hotel he regularly cut off their water and electricity and eventually built a wall and row trees beside their homes, blocking their views. People in Aberdeen now fly Mexican flags around the golf course to protest trump and his actions.
This mural painted in the Aberdeen city center depicts three locals standing on top of a broken wall. Painted in the context of the Trump presidency, brexit and the rise of Le Pen and other far right figures in Europe this piece acts as a protest against Trumpism and those who wish to build walls and divide us." @fintan_magee April 25, 2017
