A Window to the Sea by Spanish artist Elisa Capedevila
@elisacapdevila at Wapping Street, Aberdeen, Scotland in June 2022 as part of
@nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.

'Elisa describes her mural as intimate and introspective and is based on a photograph her partner took but not of Elisa herself. Exploring the Nuart Aberdeen 2022 theme of 'Reconnect', Elisa decided "...to depict a person who is spending time with herself at home".
Elisa, who studied painting and drawing in a traditional school in Barcelona, wants her artworks to be “figurative and realistic”. She is interested in 'colour atmosphere' and puts a lot of effort in creating that in her artwork through careful brush stroke technique.
Elisa wanted to make sure her new mural fitted into Aberdeen's Granite city surroundings and has incorporated the same shape of window in the surrounding buildings into the window painted in the mural.'

"A window to the sea’ An image that reflects upon contemplation and time with oneself as a necessary way to reconnect and evolve. An imagined interior scene that could be happening inside any of those windows.
...
This mural has been a challenge for me in many ways, specially because of a very rough surface to paint that put me in the need of finding new ways to make a painting work without the usual fresh look of loose brushtrokes, that were not possible in this kind of surface."
