"I was specially happy to see my friend Addam Yekutieli aka Know Hope @thisislimbo in the line up. I love his work and admire him for his social commitment. His talent for extracting #poetry from sentences and placing them in #publicspaces, to capture the moment is striking. He’s been a #thoughtful advocate for #peace and #justice , not just when it’s loud and popular, but really when it’s needed, which means all the time. Addam is portraid in this mural because he is the best fit and a great representative of our group of Streetartists. The idea for the wall was first this time. I had a deep desire to paint a calm #portrait - A wise observer." #case_maclaim June 17, 2024

'I was lucky enough to meet one of the lace makers from the Bon Accord Bobbins Lace Group from Aberdeen, the wonderful Evelyn Currie... In my mural design for Aberdeen, I used one of her lace projects as an inspiration, depicting a Scottish thistle. The Scottish thistle is the national flower of Scotland, a symbol of pride and resilience of the locals.

The history of lace making in Scotland goes back over 300 years. It was not until the middle of the eighteenth century that Anne, Duchess of Hamilton, who saw lace makers at work when travelling on the Continent, decided to provide employment for the women of her own country by introducing the art of lace making. The Duchess brought over women from France and had them teach the girls in her schools how to make “bunt lace,” as it was called.' @nes.nespoon

"The heart of my work is ceramic street art. Why lace? Good question. I’ve never liked lace. Before I started working with it, I thought lace was something outdated. Today it seems to me that each lace harbours harmony, balance and a sense of natural order. Isn’t that just what we are all searching for instinctively? Lace patterns began to interest me when I started working in ceramics. This is one of the most popular ways to decorate dishes all over the world. You push the lace onto fresh clay and this is how the pattern is created. One day I thought that these motifs are beautiful on their own, they don’t need an excuse such as a plate or a mug to exist. I started to make such no-purpose lace objects and glue them somewhere on the streets.” @nes.nespoon

"For Hama Wood's mural she created a leopard, the symbol of Aberdeen and added some cheeky rats and pulleys.
...
Hama work demonstrates a reverence for nature and its immediate connection to humanity. In a search for methods to communicate the importance and revival of nature, her stencils intuitively reflect and focus on a sociological approach to greed and human consumption and its direct effect on our natural environment.
...
Her works are characterised by the use of hand cut, multi-layered stencils which are applied by spray paint. Her hope is to empower and challenge viewers to come to their own conclusions and to rethink the choices they make which effect today and tomorrow." https://www.aberdeeninspired.com/murals/hama-woods-2019

Anarchy by French artist duo Murmure @murmurestreet at 78 Queen Street, Aberdeen City Centre, Aberdeen, Scotland in June 2023 as part of @nuartaberdeen festival. Photos taken April 2025.⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
"There are many ways of interpreting this work, and we hope that viewers will develop their own based on their sensitivity and personal background. But almost as a 'mise en abyme' (literally meaning: 'placement into abyss'), this goldfish is stuck in an environment surrounded by plastic, keeping it prisoner. The fish wants to rebel with the anarchy symbol drawn on the fog, but that will soon disappear. The use of the goldfish and its "short memory" is the perfect metaphor for humans who are aware of all the environmental issues around the world but seem to forget about them as fast as we are revolted by them and go on with our daily lives.

It's a work we have wanted to do for over a year but was considered too controversial, so having the Nuart team understand the meaning, support us, and allow us to bring it to life so it is now for the public to judge means a lot. We had the best time there, with the other artists, the team, the speakers, the volunteers and the people of Aberdeen." @murmurestreetart June 18, 2023

"In 2008 the Scottish government approved a Donald Trump golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The development has been a disaster, destroying hundreds of acres of sand dunes and pristine coastland while forcing locals off their land and only delivering 98 of the 6000 jobs Trump promised to the local economy. Trump also ended up in a public battle with a number of the local farmers who refused to sell their land. Claiming that the homes were 'slum like' and they would spoil the view from his hotel he regularly cut off their water and electricity and eventually built a wall and row trees beside their homes, blocking their views. People in Aberdeen now fly Mexican flags around the golf course to protest trump and his actions.
This mural painted in the Aberdeen city center depicts three locals standing on top of a broken wall. Painted in the context of the Trump presidency, brexit and the rise of Le Pen and other far right figures in Europe this piece acts as a protest against Trumpism and those who wish to build walls and divide us." @fintan_magee April 25, 2017
