MamalafafalaThe baby mockingbirds have arrived. My kitchen window looks slightly down on the nest so I can see their little heads pop up with beaks open wide as the parent swoops in with treats. I've tried three times to get pictures while the parents were out searching for worms and was only caught once. This is the best I could do with limited time and awkward positioning. In the first set of images, they looked like tiny bald monsters from hell so I opted not to post. They are looking a little better now in their tiny dinosaur stage.

Akire Bubar@Swede1952 Yeah. I find that the crows near me tend to look more confused than alarmed when the mockingbirds start divebombing them (not that I actually know what goes through their fine feathery heads, of course). The mockingbirds have to be really persistent! Usually the crows stick around for what they came for at the feeder; they just don't linger like they otherwise might.
I primarily put the food out for the #crows; all the other birds are a fun bonus. The #mockingbirds are helpful in letting me know when to come to the window to watch, because I hear their alarm calls even when the crows are silent. I love how the birds teach me things by watching them.
