Oh dear.
We have birdfeeders out back. We keep them going during nesting season. The squirrels and chipmunks feast in the spring too.
I was watching a chippie having breakfast.
Woosh.
A big old red-tail hawk swooped down.
One less chipmunk. 😥
Edit: not uncommon. We have had Cooper's and other hawks in the neighbourhood. They are called birdfeeders I guess.

Older daughter at her master's degree graduation ceremony...
Younger daughter on the bullet train to Tokyo to spend two days meeting with future workmates at the job she accepted...
And Mom & Dad spent all morning getting them out of bed on time, driving them to the station, packing boxes for the movers to collect tomorrow morning...

All the usual #Railtrail inhabitants; deer, rabbits, skunk, fox, coyote, birds of all sorts, etc. On the #HamOnt #THB trail.
Last summer a first for me though (sorry, can't find the picture). I saw a small snake on the trail, but it didn't move. I slowed and saw why. It had most of a big frog in its mouth. It was so fat. Basically just the legs sticking out. #CircleOfLife
