@helenclayton not sure where you're located, but in my small-town corner in the northwest of the US, these are "A Thing" :) when I was doing a "one photo a day" challenge in 2024, I spotted one on a popular nature hike. It had been placed there with obvious great care and deliberation, so I didn't want to take it from its intended home or deprive other walkers of the privilege of spotting it, so I left it where it prominently was. Glad they have loving homes regardless of where they end up! #MagicInTheMundane
