Stagnating Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park could be reconnected to ocean
Instead of a growing bloom of algae and worsening water quality — a result, the board says, of a century of infilling — a lagoon reconnected to the sea could see bird-rich mud flats at low tide, and marsh-like conditions at high tide.

What are these smol geese? They're called Cackling Geese, and will sometimes be found around flocks of Canada Geese. Apparently it's a fun challenge to look for them during bird counts. Though they have the same colours, they stand out by their size (not much bigger than a duck) and proportionately smaller neck and bill.
