European Union institutions claim that mining is subject to the highest environmental and social standards in the world. However, this notion is unfounded for several reasons. In the case of the Barroso Mine, the method proposed for the tailings dam is illegal in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru... Moreover, the company proposes that this dam which is permanent be located less than 1km from the river, which would be illegal even in China.

ANTICONQUISTA on Instagram: "Via Redstreammet: “Water yes! Mining no!” is the slogan of Indigenous protesters in Ayacucho, Peru who are calling for the expulsion of mining companies in the province of Huanta. Local communities say that mining operations are destroying the environment and poisoning the rivers that the region relies on for drinking water and agriculture. Mining in Peru is entirely privatized, with the government handing out the country’s natural resources to Peruvian and foreign multinational companies without consulting the affected communities. Illegal mining by corporate-backed criminal groups, particularly in the Amazon, also has a devastating effect on the environment. 22 major rivers in the Peruvian Amazon have been contaminated by gold mining operations. #Enviroment #ClimateJustice #Peru #walterrodney #josecarlosmariategui #corkygonzales #native #indigenous #turtleisland #abyayala #marxism #decolonialtheory #decolonialmarxism #socialism #history #economics #communism #election #decolonize #decolonization #latinamerica #politics #history #economics #fyp #explore #breaking 🔁 anthony.depice"

“A mina contamina” is a show tells the story of a drop of rain water that becomes #polluted by #heavyMetals as it falls in and underground mine. The story is told dialogically, in a conversation between the drop and a White wagtail that is warned of the perils of drinking water from the #stream, learning about the processes of #acid #mine drainage and #bioaccumulation, but also of the human #greed and #unsustainability behind mining pollution.

All about the lies of the so called #greenTransition

"critically analyze the European Green Deal, the “green and digital” transition policies" ... " financed with billions of public money, are not as fair, green or feminist as it is said. They continue to promote a growth model based on public-private partnerships, the digitization of life and extractivism, destroying territories in the global south"
