Moreover, the company proposes that this dam which is permanent be located less than 1km from the river, which would be illegal even in China.

Mining no!” is the slogan of Indigenous protesters in Ayacucho, Peru who are calling for the expulsion of mining companies in the province of Huanta. Local communities say that mining operations are destroying the environment and poisoning the rivers that the region relies on for drinking water and agriculture. Mining in Peru is entirely privatized, with the government handing out the country’s natural resources to Peruvian and foreign multinational companies without consulting the affected communities. Illegal mining by corporate-backed criminal groups, particularly in the Amazon, also has a devastating effect on the environment. 22 major rivers in the Peruvian Amazon have been contaminated by gold mining operations. #Enviroment #ClimateJustice #Peru #walterrodney #josecarlosmariategui #corkygonzales #native #indigenous #turtleisland #abyayala #marxism #decolonialtheory #decolonialmarxism #socialism #history #economics #communism #election #decolonize #decolonization #latinamerica #politics #history #economics #fyp #explore #breaking 🔁 anthony.depice"
