A 30 minute earlier departure to arrive at the same time, some people might call me crazy, but I like the train and the journey from Cork to Galway by road (even when on the bus) is a pain in the hole.
Top tip, bring bungee cords with you if travelling on the train with your bike.
Cork to Dublin train has the post carriage and the bike can be put there and strapped to hooks via the wheel
The Limerick junction train to Limerick just has the rails on the side of the carriage.
All in all pretty smooth.
