@IanMoore3000 There were quite a lot this afternoon and evening, but I think numbers were swelled by a mix of groups coming up in solidarity (motorbike clubs), hijackers (petit-fash racists), and day-trippers (jackeens taking tractor selfies).
"Sunshine between the rain showers," says the Met Éireann forecaster. Jayses wept. Will it be dry in between the raindrops, too?
All the usual suspects putting in an appearance. 🤬
‘How Ireland's far-right movement got involved in the fuel protests and tried to hijack them.’
(Good to see Dwyer finally described as an ‘agitator’ rather than an ‘activist’).
I'm curious as to how many people are taking part in the fuel protests. There are some big vehicles parked on O'Connell Street but the crowd of protesters by the bridge earlier was pretty titchy.
The Irish Times do not make it easy to cancel a subscription, but I've done it.
They've carefully crafted the subscription process to make it quick and simple, but when I needed to cancel it was a very different story. I looked in my profile and settings for an option to cancel but couldn't find one. Then I thought that maybe the option probably exists on desktop rather than mobile browser, but no. Nothing.
After searching their site I found some ... 1/?
It has been pointed out that lots of the people involved in the US's Jan 6th insurrection were affluent non-professional business owners, in real estate, car sales etc. Wealthy but not typically college educated.
I see a big parallel with the Irish fuel protests: agri-contractors and road-hauliers.
