As a person with very severe PTSD, I'm really happy that I think so idiosyncratically about things and don't just swallow whatever drivel passes for social justice on TikTok.

It was so easy for me to fall prey to monstrous, inhuman people. For nearly two decades, I was stuck and unable to escape the folks that unmade me.

Fortunately, I've since realized these people also tend to be deeply regressive and opinionated in the same way evangelical Christians are. And no matter how much they claim to support your "kind," that support evaporates the second you try to say that what they're doing isn't helpful.

I'm safer for their rejection. I have wonderful people around me now, and I can tell because "advocates of disabled people" have stopped attacking disabled people, which means only the real advocates of disabled people remain.

I haven’t been on Instagram in a few years because someone who I thought was a good friend suddenly started a harassment campaign against me accusing me of being a pretendian. It was extremely distressing. I put my account to friends-only and abandoned the platform for the sake of my mental health. Today I went back and checked my alerts for the first time in a couple of years. I saw that @augurmag had nominated me for an Aurora award for my story “Wolf Mother,” which made me smile. But then I saw that someone spammed the comments asking if the magazine has looked into my ancestry. What the actual fuck? First of all, you don’t need to be of any particular ancestry to write for the magazine. And secondly, I’m not faking anything. I am who I am. People can check my ancestry all they want. Maybe they should check to see if I’m actually of European ancestry, too, because there are no records of that on my dad’s side. Maybe I don’t actually exist. I’m a figment of everyone’s imagination. It really sucks to be undocumented. But I know who I am and how I was raised on the land and with what teachings.

A friend of mine is Inuk. Both of her parents are Inuk. But because she was kidnapped by cops and social workers in the 60s scoop and sold to a white couple to raise, people accuse her of not being Inuk. If a full-blooded Inuk goes through this shit, what hope do I have as a mixed-race person raised outside of community?

There needs to be a support group for people who are harrassed by pretendian hunters. I know a lot of people who are affected by this, and it causes suicide.
