Happy birthday to my first #TTRPG, #StarFrontiers, released on this day in 1982 at #GenCon XV. This is a modified version of the awesome original art by #LarryElmore. If anyone remembers who added the Dralasite and Vrusk, please leave a comment. #RPG #RPGs #TTRPG #TTRPGs #SciFiRPG #SciFiRPGs #ScienceFiction
The artist responsible for the box art here fuelled my imagination though my early teens. Larry Elmore created many of the images in the #DungeonsAndDragons materials on which we based our fantasy role-playing games. He also created a comic strip for Dragon magazine called Snarf Quest. Have you heard of it?

Here's a slide of Larry Elmore's art for Origin Systems' Bad Blood, used in producing the game box.

The photo of the slide was given to me by Joe Garrity, formerly of The Origin Museum.

The box art scan is from The Ultima Codex's covers collection: https://ultimacodex.com/ultima-covers/

Buy a print from the artist! https://larryelmore.com/store/BABL/bad-blood

Bad Blood, a post-apocalyptic action-RPG, built on a variant of the Ultima VI engine, doesn't receive the recognition it deserves.
