KaOS Linux Drops KDE Plasma After 12 Years for Niri/Noctalia to Escape systemd
It seems like #KaOSLinux swallowed the FUD hook, line and sinker.

If you use #KaOS Linux and are not so fond of VirtualBox, there's now a somewhat decent alternative to it in the KaOS Community Packages. QEMU.
The #QEMU package has now been updated to the latest stable QEMU release (8.2.0), and four optional dependencies for it have also been packages (libspice, libslirp, libvirglrenderer, and usbredir), enabling the use of QXL graphics, accelerated virtio graphics, and user-mode networking (that last one is very painful to live without). You can install QEMU and all its deps by running the following commands:
kcp -u
kcp -i libspice
kcp -i usbredir
kcp -i libvirglrenderer
kcp -i libslirp
kcp -i qemu
This will download, compile, and install everything you need for QEMU to work well. Make sure to always install QEMU last, otherwise it will be missing some features once installed.
**Note that only the x86_64 full system emulator will be installed.** This reduces compile time and provides the most frequently used features. If you need user-mode emulation or the ability to emulate other architectures, you should be able to tweak the PKGBUILD for qemu and enable additional QEMU targets (though please note I have not tried this).
Of course, we're still missing a decent virtual machine manager for QEMU. I don't want to package libvirt and virt-manager for KaOS (not KDE-focused, libvirt is complex and sometimes glitchy), but one of the projects I'm working on may resolve that in the future. For now though, if you're comfortable using QEMU at the command line, it's in #KaOSLinux. Enjoy.
