Learned a new word phrase today. It sounds like 2 words unless you are shrieking it. Dejá dammit is that moment you have a split second vision of something glass you are handling dropping to the floor and shattering. And then it does.

Not an auspicious start to this day. A whole hour till my larger stovetop percolater finishes my coffee. Finally 7 am I sitting and sipping, as @Uncleharvey would say. But at 7 am it really a good cup of coffee now. And I guess I’ll be doing a trip to the evil modern Sears Roebuck catalog to look for a replacement glass knob for my smaller percolator. Maybe I should get 2. Hmmm

Oh, may as well attach another grocery store rant again as it’s been 3 days in a row I think of products I seek and have trouble finding. In this case the photo shows the 3 flavors of pudding mix I can actually use from this wall of options.

Silly me I thought I could just buy a variety of pudding mixes on sale. Here there is only the Jello brand. But old me still prefers “Cook and Serve” not Instant. Instant doesn’t have the texture I like, nor does it adequately incorporate banana slices as I planned. I can choose only from the packages I marked in purple on this photo. I get chocolate, vanilla or, oddly, butterscotch. If you exclude mine, my gosh look at this wall of varieties and flavors that are Instant. If you wondered if cobalt here is done ranting about so-called food at the grocery store and prices, ah, nope. Exhibit 4 or so. American readymade gelatin is usually just called Jello due to that popular powerhouse brand. However people looking to buy the readymade small cups (6 oz) usually buy the Hunt brand because it’s far cheaper. Right now the typical 4 pack is on sale for 99¢ but regular price is $2.49.

But oh my, maybe don’t make the mistake of buying the new Hunt brand flavors in the 6 packs. Get this: SALE price is $4 for the 6 cups if you buy 2 packs for $8 total. Yikes! The “regular” price for 6 cups is $4.99. Egad. This is fruit flavor and sugar in gelatin form. See the photo with arrows to the various flavors and pricing. The actual Jello brand gelatin cups are in the cooler where you get prepackaged cheese.
