What if a meltdown wasn't a "bad" thing, but a signal that you're having trouble coping with something? Or that you need something you're not getting?

Believing that your wants exist, matter, and can be met, is the first step in learning to figure out what you want.

Having a doubt that autistic burnout is my current issue, so I went looking for books on autistic depression. I ran across a book that I was 99% sure I have. I looked at my receipts, and yes I had a digital copy. Found it. I read it a year ago.
Must not have taken as...
1. I don't remember reading it. (There are highlights up to nearly the last chapter.)
2. I have decidedly gotten worse since a year ago.
Reading through some of the early highlights, these are all things I've done for years. I heavily highlighted stuff on #interoception , which is a problem for me. But, I'm doing all the hacks around externally managing my lack of awareness.
I probably need to pay more attention to the #bodyscan stuff. That's tough because, well... it sounds like bullshit an NT wrote. I'm often assessing how I feel, but it's retrospective. How does one prevent getting to a 10 when you get a chance to stop and look, you are already at a 12? Maybe that's a place to do some online digging.
Can you read while there is audible language around you? Talking, shows, music, etc.
As for me, that’s a strong no.

Anxiety or Sensory Sensitivity? Here's How to Tell
Physical sensations and thought always go together. We may not always pay attention to both of those, but we can connect them. When we notice one of them, we can look for the information from the other.
You have decades of information stored in your body about what’s okay and what’s not.

Interoceptive signals from visceral organs, such as heart, lungs and gut, are known to influence many aspects of organismal physiology and behavior. This Perspective argues that liver signaling via the vagal nerve is another avenue of body-brain communication that shapes metabolism and mood.
