@Dalek_au 🙂 Any company that has more than 10% of its people as “regular” casuals is just exploiting people as a disposable commodity (while the authorities indifferently look on). One persons #flexibility is another persons #InsecureWork and loss of Statutory Rights. Regulate the #GigEconony and don’t forget to tip #casualworkers.
Final day of (paid) work today for 2022. Should mean ... Yay, holidays! Instead it means ... what am I going to do, why should I get out of bed, how can I keep my (school) kid entertained, do I have enough savings to get me through, to pay my bills, and the mental stamina to get through the 'festive season'? And then hope for something to come up for next year's work, without overloading myself because by February I'm desperate for anything? #InsecureWork #CasualAcademic #university #TeachingAcademic Don't get me wrong, there are aspects of casual work that I love, but the end of the year is not one of them.

Look forward to connecting more.
