Precarious workers are employees without stability, not “entrepreneurs”

Notes From Below

The $200 billion industry, the world’s largest by revenue and volume of orders, more than doubled during three years of #Covid19 lockdowns and once provided a solid income for #CasualWorkers. But not anymore.

“They are working long hours, really being squeezed,” said #JennyChan, associate sociology professor at #PolytechnicUniversity of Hong Kong. #GigEconomy #China

The Business Council are so opposed to the changes for #casualWorkers I feel they have to be a good thing, on an "if they're for it I'm again it" basis, only in reverse.
Big turnout at the National Tertiary Education Union strike on ANU campus, striking for #casualWorkers to gain better security and pay
@Dalek_au 🙂 Any company that has more than 10% of its people as “regular” casuals is just exploiting people as a disposable commodity (while the authorities indifferently look on). One persons #flexibility is another persons #InsecureWork and loss of Statutory Rights. Regulate the #GigEconony and don’t forget to tip #casualworkers.

It's good to see that some in #Australia have been able to identify #JobKeeper as a #scam. Designed to enrich the #powerElite, and the #extremelyWealthy, while regular honest #Australians, #casualWorkers, #unemployed and the #lessFortunate are left behind.

Good to see people hashtagging #NoWorkersLeftBehind and #WageSubsidyForAll but what did you make of those hashtags?

Did you actually #organise?

This is why we need #alternativeMedia and more using Tor and I2P.
