I *think* this is a Woodland Dor Beetle, Anoplotrupes stercorosus
( ..but it could very well be a Common Dumbledore Beetle, Geotrupes spiniger? )
They look identical.. The first is more common in May, so I went with that ID 😌

More rescued swallowtail eggs are about to hatch. Some of the eggs have turned black, which means the caterpillars will soon nibble their way out.

Het rupsje is nu ongeveer 8 mm groot, is dus 4x groter geworden op amper een week tijd, en is daarnet voor de eerste keer verveld. Op het onderste beeld zie naast de rups nog het afgeworpen zwarte huidje hangen.

An insect.
Somewhat like a moth.
But with little fury black and white striped wing-things.
Tail /abdomen is white under and orange on top. With vertical black dashesover both white area and seperately over orange area.
