I found this chonker last weekend munching on some cow parsley flowers. The ants seemed perturbed but the weevil didn’t seem to care about them chomping on its face

Also came across this ant…event? Largely static, no one running around frantically, just pairs and small groups facing off.

I got stung by nettles taking this photo lol.

I told my sister I would ask an ant person (@futurebird) what was happening.

#MiteMonday: paid an impromptu visit to my usual mite tree down by the lake! Things are busy. Saw some fighting, although much of it was over food (dead bugs).

These are sumo mites (_Allothrombium_), in the red velvet mite family (a Trombidiidae).
