"President Trump is signing off on a decision from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) earlier this year to cut down on the number of required vaccinations for children.

The president endorsed these adjusted immunization requirements in an executive order on Friday. Trump cited his administration’s commitment to 'protecting religious liberty and parental authority' in the order."

"The FDA's vaccine advisors voted 8 to 0, with one abstention, in favor of a monovalent XFG vaccine for COVID-19 shots for the 2026-2027 season."

Now will the FDA and HHS follow this recommendation? 🤔

"A bill passed by the state legislature in March then signed into law by Democratic Gov. Jared Polis allows Colorado to further uncouple itself from federal guidance.

The law allows health officials to follow the recommendations of national medical groups when making decisions such as purchasing bulk vaccines for the Medicaid program."

Howard G. Smith MD, AM on Instagram: "The Immunizations Your Children Need The American Academy of Pediatrics has released its Recommended Childhood and Adolescent Immunization Schedule for 2026. The serecommendations reaffirm the longstanding routine vaccinations necessary to protect children and teens against serious illness. This academy represents the pediatricians who, along with pediatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and all professionals on your child’s medical team, are responsible for keeping your children healthy. They are the ones who delight in watching your children grow and mature. But… they are also the ones who must shepherd you and your children through illnesses, both mild and serious. And, god forbid, they are the ones to deliver the worst news a parent ever has to hear and then grieve with you The AAP leaders say the 2026 schedule is largely unchanged from last year’s guidance and continues to reflect longstanding scientific evidence. It does differ from a recently issued CDC schedule, which the Academy emphasizes departs from established medical evidence and does not offer optimal protection for children. The recommended vaccines protect against the 18 most serious childhood diseases and I am going to review the list ranked according to severity and risk to your child’s life. Tier 1 diseases: measles, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pneumococcal infections. Tier 2 diseases: hemophilus influenza type B or HiB, pertussis or whooping cough, meningococcal infections, respiratory syncytial virus or RSV. Tier 3 diseases : influenza, CoVid, hepatitis B, hepatitis A. Tier 4 diseases: varicella or chickenpox, rubella or German measles, mumps. Tier 5 diseases: rotavirus, human papilloma virus or HPV. The message for parents is simple: vaccines work, they’re safe, they save lives, and every child should receive all those recommended. https://www.aap.org/en/news-room/news-releases/aap/2025/american-academy-of-pediatric-issues-recommended-childhood-and-adolescent-immunization-schedule-for-2026/ #immunizations #children #pediatrics #publichealth"

Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional, Rejecting Decades of Science

Dr. Kirk Milhoan, a pediatric cardiologist who leads the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, said a person’s right to refuse a vaccine outweighed concerns about illness or death from infectious diseases.

"A growing number of states are pushing back against sweeping changes to the US childhood vaccine schedule.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced an overhaul of the immunization schedule January 5, paring the number of universally recommended immunizations from 17 to 11."

On January 5, 2026, the Acting Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention signed a decision memorandum to revise the Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule and significantly reduce the number of vaccinations routinely recommended for all U.S. children. This decision did not follow established procedure for #vaccine policy recommendations and threatens an increase in vaccine-preventable diseases in children nationwide. Children getting sick from the diseases prevented by recommended #immunizations leads to missed school for children, missed work for parents, and even hospitalization and death in some children. https://doh.wa.gov/newsroom/west-coast-health-alliance-continues-recommend-vaccination-alignment-american-academy-pediatrics-aap

The revisions show that the “CDC cannot currently be trusted as a scientific voice,” said Demetre Daskalakis, who formerly led the agency’s center responsible for respiratory viruses & #immunizations. He was 1 of 3 senior leaders who resigned in August because of what they said was the politicization of #science at the agency. “The weaponization of the #CDC voice by validating false claims on official websites confirms what we have been saying,” he said.
