As I process the news, especially anything related to Medicaid or community-funding changes, I begin to accumulate particles of filth. The ignorance, the racism, the hatred, the glaring silence, all like little bits of dirt that get stuck in me. And then I wonder why I feel so awful, why getting angry feels so good, why even existing right now is so heavy.
Getting angry and doing something dumps the crap out of my filter. Finding other people who care dumps it out. Doing something locally does too. But mostly just seeing it, noticing and pointing at it, makes it less poisonous.
