Of course it rears its ugly head when times are tough and people need someone to look up to, someone to imprint on.
But as has been proven time and time again, idolizing the rich and powerful is a really bad idea.
Not that it's all bad. Friday was #DillaDay and if anyone deserved to be idolized it's someone like him. But of course, he was a genius composer and an artist and not an #oligarch or a #president.
#Idolization has killed the #artist. In essence, #artists are becoming #influencers (or idols) and losing their focus.
Instead of developing new styles, new movements, new schools, we see a constant retreading of same ground because the artform is only an accessory to the idolization.

I am tired of #Humanity's trait of #Idolizing or #Demonizing of #Individuals. It's like they forget that even #Good #People do #Bad #Deeds and vice-versa.
This stupid #Trait forces them to #Blind themselves to #Reality. And when that very reality comes knocking, instead of #Understanding the #Truth , it shatters them itself. Thus they #Fight to #Defend themselves by forcing the #Idolization or #Demonization onto the truth, even if it is mere #Lies.
